Realbotix deployed its Optio AI teacher's assistant and an M-Series humanoid robot at the Salamanca City Central School District in New York. The pilot program currently supports high school students enrolled in Woz ED AI and Robotics courses on the Seneca Nation Reservation. According to Realbotix, the district plans to expand the software's access to approximately 500 high school students in the fall semester.
The Optio platform uses personalized avatars trained on the district's curriculum to provide 24/7 tutoring, concept reinforcement, and homework support across multiple languages. Alongside the software, the district deployed a Realbotix M-Series humanoid robot. The hardware features facial expressions and natural conversation capabilities to encourage student participation and provide hands-on exposure to emerging technologies.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Beehler stated the system includes school-specific safeguards for content and privacy, removing the risk of student exposure to inaccurate or biased information. The platform is designed to assist teachers with lesson planning and differentiated instruction while keeping educators in control of content delivery. Realbotix notes the system also includes features to support neurodiverse learners through personalized, always-available reinforcement.
Realbotix CEO Andrew Kiguel said the deployment moves the company "beyond lab demonstrations and pilots to deliver real, embodied AI directly into classrooms."
The company plans to track student engagement, concept mastery, and reductions in teacher workload during the Salamanca pilot. These metrics will determine if Realbotix can establish a repeatable deployment model to sell its AI teaching assistant and robotic hardware to other STEM-focused school districts.
