Realbotix deployed its M-Series humanoid robot and AI software, Optio, at the Salamanca City Central School District in New York. The pilot program currently serves students enrolled in Woz ED AI and Robotics courses. Realbotix plans to expand the deployment to approximately 500 high school students in the fall of 2026.
The initiative splits into two components: a physical robot and a software platform. The M-Series robot operates in the classroom for face-to-face interaction. It uses natural language processing and expressive facial movements to answer student questions, participate in discussions, and deliver spoken educational content.
The software component, Optio, functions as an AI teacher's assistant and at-home tutor. Students interact with personalized digital avatars trained strictly on district-approved curriculum. According to Realbotix, the system provides one-on-one tutoring, concept reinforcement, multilingual homework assistance, and 24/7 academic support. The company stated that the platform includes education-specific safety controls and district oversight to block inappropriate responses. The software also features personalized learning pathways designed to support neurodiverse learners.
Realbotix CEO Andrew Kiguel stated the deployment aims to move the company's technology beyond lab demonstrations and into live educational environments to support teachers and engage students.
