UBTech Robotics launched the U1, a consumer humanoid robot designed for personal companionship in the Chinese market, on July 1, 2026. The Shenzhen-based company, which is the world's first publicly traded humanoid robot maker, is shipping the units to residential homes across China, according to the South China Morning Post.
The U1 hardware features a silicone exterior designed to mimic human skin. On the software side, the robot operates using what UBTech terms "emotional artificial intelligence."
Because the company has not released a full technical specification sheet, critical hardware details remain unknown. The current documentation provides no data regarding the U1's degrees of freedom, battery life, payload capacity, weight, or retail price. The exact processing capabilities and privacy parameters of its emotional AI system also remain undefined.
